Steve Rieschl

  • World Class Ski Jumper
  • Ski Pioneer

Steve represented the US as a ski jumper on the 1960 Olympic Team and captained the US Nordic Ski Team at the 1962 World Championships.

He pioneered cross-country skiing in the US by founding the first cross-country ski school in Colorado and led the first Vail cross-country team on a trip to Aspen, which became the basic route for the Tenth Mountain Division Huts trail system of today.

He contributed articles and columns to major ski magazines, helped produce films and TV shows on ski touring and authored Ski Touring for the Fun of It published by Sports Illustrated. He’s a member of the Colorado Ski Hall of Fame and the Mountaineer Sports Hall of Fame at Western State College.

Steve has a fascinating story and will be sharing his experiences and how a personal faith in God gave him purpose and meaning in his life.
